It’s time to get out and enjoy holidays and summer events once more. Here’s how to look and feel your best.
It’s nearly summer and with that comes lots of social events. As it’s the first relatively normal one since 2019 there will be lots of rescheduled family get togethers, parties for occasions and holidays at home and away.
Our enforced hibernation may have some of us a little rusty when it comes to big social gatherings, and we might need to put in a little pre-event prep to get ourselves looking and feeling our best.
- The first thing we’ll all need is a bit of an energy boost. The best way to do that is through what we eat and luckily it always seems easier to eat well when the sun is shining. Break out the BBQ for delicious grilled fish and lean meat and serve it up with fresh salads and veggies. It’s an easy way to feel good, more full of energy and pack in the vitamins.
- Get used to being hydrated. Everyone loves a drink in the sun, but it can be easy to have your glass refilled without you even noticing. Get into the habit of drinking lots of water and always have a bottle or large glass to hand. Make sure you’re drinking lots of it in between alcoholic drinks or opt for some of the new and delicious non-alcoholic brands on the market.
- Another great way to boost your energy is to get out into the fresh air. This is the season to walk, walk, walk and it’s a great way to catch up with a friend or get some much-needed solo headspace. Long evenings mean you can get out after the kids are in bed or all the work is done for the day and still see the benefits. A walk in the daylight will help your sleep and give you a boost of Vitamin D too. Win win!
- If your skin could do with freshening up, start a new regime. If you wear makeup, you could try double cleansing – this means using an oil-based cleanser, or micellar water, then following with a gentle cleanser. You can also add hyaluronic acid to your routine, invest in a good exfoliator to remove old skin cells; and moisturise – especially important in sunny weather. Make sure that you use a high factor, broad spectrum SPF every single day to protect your face, chest and hands. If you head abroad or we get a really nice summer (fingers crossed) remember to wear a hat to protect your head and hair and reapply your SPF often, especially if you’ve been in the water.
- It can sometimes be difficult to get all the vitamins and minerals we need from food alone so invest in a supplement like Cleanmarine For Women (now known as Cleanmarine PeriodPlan). It contains vitamin B2 which works to maintain normal skin and sunshine vitamin D3 which contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and teeth. Exactly what you need for a busy summer!
