My 3 Top Tips for Wedding Skincare Prep

By Professional Makeup Artist and Beauty Blogger Bonnie Ryan

1. Prepare in Advance!
If regular facials are something you are planning to incorporate into your pre-wedding skin-care routine, you should start working alongside your skin therapist 6-12 months before your big day. Texture and pigmentation are two of the main things people want to fix before a wedding and can take a while to correct, so this being said it’s best to start as soon as possible working on it. Everyone’s skin is different, needs different care and each person will have different concerns so I think it’s wise to set up a consultation at first so you and your skin specialist are on the same page as to what your end goal for your wedding is. I would also recommend to book a bridal makeup trial early, as it’s important to be comfortable with how your makeup looks and ensure the products used suit you, too.

2. Manage Stress Levels
It’s not just all about looking after the outside when it comes to skin. Planning and the direct lead up to a wedding can be stressful. It has been proven that stress can have a direct impact on your skin health, certain pro-inflammatory glands and certain cells can become triggered when your body is in stress and can lead to many different skin concerns and breakouts. I really believe it’s so important to incorporate things into your day in the lead up to your wedding to keep stress levels down, such as:

  • Exercising: it can help release endorphins, which have a calming effect on the body and mind
  •  Yoga: it will help focuses on breathing and relaxation, which can help calm the nervous system and keep your body out of that “fight or flight” mode
  • Meditation: being one of my favourite ways to relax. Even 5 minutes each day has a proven effect to help calm the central nervous system

3. Look at Your Diet
Ideally, you should be eating a balanced diet with a wide range of nutrients. This isn’t always easy when you’re busy (and stressed!). If you think you’re not getting enough nutrients, you could consider a supplement. Cleanmarine For Women (now known as Cleanmarine PeriodPlan)is an Irish Omega 3 and multivitamin supplement that contains Vitamin B2, which contributes to the maintenance of normal skin, as well as Vitamin B6 which contributes to normal psychological function, and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. I’ve been taking Cleanmarine For Women for 3 months now, and have noticed it’s helped my skin to look and feel nourished from within. I would recommend Cleanmarine For Women to any brides-to-be as a nutritional support in the lead up to your wedding!
